The Dark Knight is widely hailed as having the most iconic rogues gallery. In fact, most people read the books just because of Batman’s “un”usual suspects.
Over the course of 10 separate articles, Geek Battle Royale is making a list of the top 50 villains that hang their hats in the dystopic Gotham city.
This is what would happen to Bruce Wayne if his dad was a dick. Dr. Thomas “Tommy” Elliot was a childhood friend of Wayne. He is also wealthy but his father was abusive.
Fast-forward, Elliot’s jealousy of Wayne drives him to travel around the world honing his skills to be able to take on his long-lost friend down. This includes attending Harvard Medical School to become a surgeon.
Fast-forward again, Elliot adopts the persona Hush. Most notably, he cuts out Catwoman’s heart and with the help of Mr. Freeze left her on life-support. DAAAYUM!
12. JOE CHILL
Joe Chill is your basic run-of-the-mill lowlife. No superpowers. No skills in fighting, strategy, or anything else. You might ask, “why is he even on this list?!?”
Well, the answer is simple. This is the scumbag that killed Bruce Wayne’s parents. So in essence, no Joe Chill means no Batman.
Out of all 50 villains on this list, this is the guy who psychologically scarred Bruce Wayne the most. One of the reason’s why it messed Wayne up so much, is because there was no reason behind it. No nefariously secret schemes. No revenge reasoning. It was simply a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. You could say that Joe Chill’s superpower is being extra ordinary. So ordinary that it is just plain insulting.
13. DEATHSTROKE THE TERMINATOR
Granted, Deathstroke is not strictly a Batman villain, but he is enough of a reoccurring character that he should be included in this list. Also, Slade Wilson is a mercenary that kicks ass despite having only one eye. He gets mad props for that alone.
Fun fact: Inspired by the Deathstroke character, Artist Rob Liefeld and writer Fabian Nicieza jokingly created Deadpool, “the Merc with a Mouth.” You see the similarities right? Slade Wilson/Deathstroke; Wade Wilson/Deadpool. Get it?
14. BLACK MASK
The problem with Carmine Falcone is that he is just a straight-up generic mob boss.
Enter Roman Sionis, a mob boss with a sense of style. Always dressed to the nines with a mobster pinstripe suit. Did I mention that he wears a mask carved from his father’s ebony coffin?
15. KILLER CROC
Killer Croc suffers from a unique form of atavism. Croc’s atavistic tendencies are very aggressive, so he is constantly becoming more and more lizard-like in appearance as time progresses. The most recent appearance of Killer Croc in the comic books, depict him with an crocodile-like snout.
Killer Croc is the only villain who has gone toe-to-toe with Bane. Although, Bane always end up simultaneously breaking both of his arms. Seriously, he broke Croc”s arms on at least three occasions!
