After coming up with my list of the Top 10 Tracks of the 8-bit Era, I’ve decided to do a list of my favorite 10 tracks of the SNES. Now sit back with a nice pair of headphones and enjoy!
10. Final Fantasy III (VI) – Boss Battle Theme
What’s not to love about this awesome upbeat battle theme from one of the greatest Final Fantasy games ever made? As soon as you hear this track you know you are in for no ordinary battle.
9. Mega Man X – Sigma Stage 1
The Wily Castle 1 of the Mega Man X games, this is an awesome track that really pumps you up for the challenge to come. Easily one of my favorite tracks of the entire Mega Man X series! I could have went with Storm Eagle or Boomer Kuwanger’s theme but I’ve always had a soft spot for this one.
8. Earthbound – You’ve Come So Far Ness / Coffee Break
My favorite track from one of my favorite games of all time. This is the track that plays when the game has its “coffee break” scenes. While there are plenty of great quirky tracks from this bizarre game this one stands out the most for me. Just an awesome super chill song.
7. Chrono Trigger – Wind Scene
With so many amazing tracks, Chrono Trigger had one of the best soundtracks of video game history! However, when trying making this list Wind Scene was one of the first track that came to mind. An awesome mellow song that sets the tone for the era that you are in when you first hear it.
6. Super Mario RPG – Forest Maze (Beware the Forest’s Mushrooms)
Another super awesome track that once you hear it manages to get stuck in your head! Very catchy and leads to the introduction of one of the most popular characters in the Mario universe Geno. If you’ve never given Mario RPG the time of day, I suggest you do.
5. Secret of Mana – Meridian Dance
Holy cow, nothing wrong to say about this song. Just a super awesome rocking track from one of best RPGs available for the SNES. Secret of Mana was another great one in the list of amazing games put out by Squaresoft during their SNES run.
4. The Legend of Zelda : A Link to the Past – Dark World Theme
How could I not include the best track from my third favorite Zelda game? Setting the tone for what weas the come, the Dark World Theme is one of the most recognizable songs on the list. Hearing this track again makes me want play it right now.
3. Terranigma – Crysta
If there is one song I could pick from my favorite game ever made it would Crysta. It is just a nice peaceful town song that really portrays how much simpler things are for the residents of Crysta. Be sure to check out my review to see how I feel about this game.
2. Donkey Kong Country 2 – Stickerbrush Symphony
If you are looking for a cool song to unwind to this is it. A very mellow song to balance the annoyance and difficulty of the stage it plays on. Absolutely amazing song from a super fun game that really took Donkey Kong to a whole new level for me.
1. Chrono Trigger – Corridors of Time (Zeal Theme)
Here it is, my favorite track of the entire SNES library. I love this song. It also happens to be from my favorite part in the game where you are introduced to the magical kingdom of Zeal. There is nothing bad I can say about it. Just give it a listen.
Well there they are, my favorite tracks of the SNES. As always comment below and let me know how you feel about this list. Hate it? Love it? What would you change?
