Good news everyone! Hugh Jackman has confirmed that his last Wolverine movie will be “Old Man Logan”… Bad news everyone! Hugh Jackman has confirmed that his last Wolverine movie will be “Old Man Logan”! Why the confusion Blake? Why can’t you just write an article without making us question things Blake? Why did you drink all the milk and put the empty container back in the fridge Blake? Let me try to make heads and tails of this for y’all.
Old Man Logan is a great, if not the best Wolverine story arc to turn into a film. *Spoilers* The story follows an aged Logan, hence the name, in his quest to lead a peaceful existence on his farm with his family. Unfortunately for Logan his landlords are the Banners, the Hulks inbred grandchildren. Logan’s farm isn’t making much money these days, so he is forced to do one more job with a now blind Hawkeye to get enough money for a few months’ rent. This leads him across the country, which is now divided among supervillains, to help Hawkeye deliver a package. As they make their way in the Spider-mobile, they encounter all manner of Marvelness. Like Hammer Falls, where Thor’s Hammer remains. And trying to help Daredevil, Punisher, and Peter Parker’s granddaughter in Las Vegas where Kingpin holds gladiator-like events with dinosaurs from the Savage Land. Speaking of which they even run across a Venom symbiote infused T-rex! Take that Indominus Rex! There is plenty more but read the book yourself. All these things would be absolutely awesome to see on screen. But therein lies the problem.
Most of that awesomeness is owned by Marvel Studios and Sony, not Fox. I really don’t see any way that Fox can make a proper Old Man Logan movie without all these major players. For those who haven’t read the books and may be thinking, “Oh just get the X-men to fill in the missing pieces.” Sorry they have other roles to play, like already being dead. I did say spoilers right? If only we lived in a world where Fox, Marvel, and Sony, could realize that if they combined forces for one movie of epic proportions they would have the largest grossing movie of all time. If only they realized that Old Man Logan could be that movie. If only they realized that I would pay triple the amount of a movie ticket to see such a film. But sadly, I don’t know if they do. And the worst news of all kids… all of this is our own fault. You see, if we all wouldn’t have stopped buying comics a few years back, Marvel would not have been in such dire straits that their only recourse would be to sell off its most beloved characters to Fox and Sony. I would like to personally apologize to Marvel. I am truly sorry that I got interested in girls and forgot about comics. If my desire to see a boob were not so strong, maybe we would be getting the Old Man Logan that deserves to be made.
What can we do to help?
Below are a few things you can do to help:
- Sign our online petition to 20th Century Fox, Marvel Studios, and Sony Entertainment. The goal of the petition is convey that the fan base would rather see this movie done correctly with all working together.
- GBR has sent packages containing beans (aka Magic Beans), to each company. This is in reference to Logan asking his son Scott if he had any magic beans to sell. We labeled all boxes with #GBRLegumesForLogan. We hope you will do the same. This is more of a symbolic gesture, we want to show the studios that we are all willing to give up our Magic Beans in order to see this story as it was intended.
- Share! Share! Share! The more people that get involved in this effort, the more likely we will succeed!
Thank you all for your support!
