I was really impressed by the first season of True Detective. Before I continue, I feel obligated to impart a disclaimer. Being a lifelong Louisiana resident, I enjoyed the show more than others based solely on the filming location. The first season takes place in the sparse landscape of rural “Cajun-country” Louisiana. Similar to American Horror Story, True Detective’s season are done in an anthology format. Which means that story, cast, and location vary from season to season. GBR has recently heard through the grapevine that this location has changed to California. The creator reportedly said:
“It takes place in California — not Los Angeles, but some of the much lesser known venues of California — and we’re going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambiance of the place, much like we did in season one.”
I am glad that they are sticking with outlying areas, although a tad disappointed that the show is leaving my neck of the woods.
There is also a rumors that Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch are in talks of assuming the lead roles for season 2.
What do you think about this change in landscape and casting? Leave me a comment below.
