Upon trying to figure out the most even fight I could I decided to go with two guys that haven’t the first super power between them. These two just use brute strength and pure unadulterated awesomeness to break a foe in half. I give you Sin City’s resident badass Marv vs. Dark Horse’s muscle The Goon.
First off lets start with Marv. In the entire Sin City universe(albeit a small one)he may be the most cunning, ruthless, vicious, and funny of them all. Marv is depicted as an extremely imposing, 7-foot-tall man with a buzzcut, a falcon-like nose and a heavily scarred face, making him unappealing to just about anyone. He has a massive frame and is distinctly broad-shouldered, generally towering over his fellow characters. He is usually seen dressed in an overcoat, white undershirt, leather pants and combat boots.
According to Frank Miller, Marv was meant to be a sorta modern Conan in a trench coat. He lacks all remorse for the brutality that he dishes out yet has certain soft spots for certain people in his life such as his mom and Nancy. Even for someone his size, Marv has an unusual level of speed which, coupled with his well-developed fighting skills, incredible strength and pain tolerance, allow him to bring down with startling ease nearly anyone who challenges him or breaks his personal code of ethics. He notes in The Hard Goodbye that Kevin is the only person to have ever successfully snuck up on him. Marv is also fond of long trench coats, and immediately prior to killing someone in possession of such a coat, he often remarks something to the tune of “That’s a damn fine coat you’re wearing”, after which he takes their coat, especially if the one he had was damaged.
He also adheres unrelentingly to his own personal code of honor, which dictates the repayment of debts and chivalry towards women, stating that “it really gets my goat when guys rough up dames”, even refusing to lay a finger on Gail, who wrongly believed he had killed several prostitutes under her employ, after she tortured him for information. He also highly values kindness, often going out of his way to repay kindness shown to him. As such, anyone whom he considers a friend and/or has shown him kindness, he will defend until he is no longer capable, or he feels the debt has been repaid, whichever comes first some see this as a weakness. Marv’s biggest issue though is his mind. He suffers from an unknown mental condition that he takes medication for and has often stated he was scared of what he may be becoming.
Not a whole lot is known about The GOON. He was an orphan raised by his aunt who worked the side show circuit as a strongwoman. Her death by the hands of a vicious gangster caused him to lose his mind and off the gangster with his bare hands. The GOON then proceeded to believe that the gangster “owed” him something and took over his whole operation. Collecting money and offing deadbeats, the GOON insisted that the gangster was still alive and the Goon was merely his “enforcer”. The Goon is a hulking figure, normally wearing green pants, a white or black shirt, and the hat he removed from the dead gangster. He has massive gorilla-like arms with hands to match.
